Developer onboarding

Set up required developer access for Azure, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Copilot.

Developer onboarding

Use this checklist to finish your developer access setup before starting project work.

Azure

Portal access

You have been assigned a Visual Studio subscription. Activate it to unlock the Azure benefit that provides $150 per month in Azure credit.

Activate the Azure benefit

  1. Open the Visual Studio portal.
  2. Sign in with your company account.
  3. Click Activate subscription.
  4. Find the Azure benefit with $150/month credit.
  5. Click Activate and follow the activation instructions.
  6. Confirm that the Azure subscription is visible in the Azure portal.

Source message

Bylo vám přiřazeno předplatné Visual Studio. Klikněte na portál Visual Studio, aktivujte si výhodu a postupujte podle pokynů pro aktivaci.

If activation fails or the benefit is missing, open Visual Studio help and contact the team member who assigned the subscription.

Azure DevOps

The developer needs access to the BigHub Azure DevOps organization:

Confirm that you can open https://dev.azure.com/bighubcz/ with your company account. If access is denied, write to Jakub Vodička on Teams at jakub.vodicka@bighub.cz and ask him to grant Azure DevOps access with the Enterprise license.

GitHub Copilot

Developers can access GitHub Copilot and the GitHub CLI using their company email account.

Use the BigHub GitHub username format:

firstname-surname_bighub

For example:

tomas-rokos_bighub

Confirm that you can sign in to GitHub with your company email and that Copilot is available in your editor. If GitHub CLI access is needed, authenticate it with the same GitHub account.

Free time

BigHub also has space for non-project activities and shared interests.

3D printing

3D printing turns a digital 3D model into a physical object by laying down melted filament layer by layer. The printer follows instructions from a sliced file, which tells it where to move, how hot to be, and how much filament to extrude.

Bambu Lab workflow

  1. Create a Bambu Lab account.
  2. Install the Bambu Handy mobile app and Bambu Studio for macOS.
  3. Go to the 3D printer, log out from the current printer profile, and scan the printer QR code with the Bambu Handy app.

  1. Open Bambu Studio on macOS. The printer should sync automatically after the mobile app binding.
  2. Import your model, choose the printer/filament profile, click Slice, then send it to the printer.

Slice the model in Bambu Studio and send it to the printer

  1. Before printing, spray glue on the area of the build plate where the print will go.
  2. When the print finishes, wait until the plate is safe to touch, pop the 3D print off the plate, and remove the test/purge filament line on the side.

Clean the build plate after printing

Leave the plate clean and ready for the next person.

Filament

Filaments are paid either by BigHub or by Tomáš. If you print regularly, please buy and bring more filament as well. You might be using Tomáš's filament.
